Photoshop Elements vs. Photoshop
What’s the difference?
Adobe Photoshop is the industry standard for graphic artists, photographers, and other digital imaging professionals. It’s some seriously powerful software, and it comes with an equally powerful price tag (roughly $600-$800).
Because digital imaging is just so darn fun and exciting, there are a lot of people who want to get involved, but don’t need some of the features that accompany the $600 price (CMYK color capabilities, access to alpha channels, free standing layer masks to name a few). So, Adobe came out with a less expensive version called Photoshop Elements.
Don’t be mistaken, for less than $100 (sometimes even for $50!) you’re getting some serious bang for your buck. Elements is extremely powerful and quite capable. It makes the most sense for scapbooking enthusiasts and general shutterbugs.
In general, there are benefits to both versions. There are some pretty nifty features that Elements has that the pro version doesn’t. There’s no right or wrong answer here. You can read more online.
